I have a row of numbers C31 E31, G31, I17 AND K31 WHICH MAY OR MAY CONTAIN A POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE NUMBER
I NEED TO KNOW HOW MANY CELLS CONTAIN A NUMBER. =COUNTIF(C31..K31,<>"0") WILL NOT WORK BECAUSE THERE IS TEXT IN D31, F31, H31, J31 AND L31. HOW DO I TEST FOR THE PRESENCE OF A REAL NUMBER, BE IT POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE?

Please try this simple "countif" to count how many cells that is positive or negative number in range of C31:K31, and it works from my side
=COUNTIF(C31:K31,">0")+COUNTIF(C31:K31,"<0")+COUNTIF(C31:K31,"=0")
Duncan
=COUNTIF(C31:K31,">0")+COUNTIF(C31:K31,"<0")+COUNTIF(C31:K31,"=0")

This will count the no of cells with numbers in them in C31, E31, G31, I31 and K31.
=SUMPRODUCT(--(MOD(COLUMN(C31:K31),2)=1), --(ISNUMBER(C31:K31)))
PS I'm assuming I17 is a typo and should be I31.

put a row below row 31 (hide it afterwards to make the layout look the same).
In Call C32 put this formula:
In Call C32 put this formula:
copy this one to the right up until cell K32
this one gives True or false.
Now count the number of true's in row 32
you can now hide row 32

500 points GOOD
Hi,
If you are excluding 0 from your count this will work:
=COUNT(C31:K31)-COUNTIF(C31:K31,0).
If there can be no 0 then you don't need the second part.
