Network Routers;Network Switches & Hubs;Cisco PIX Firewall
I know this one is probably easy, but I just do not recall how to do it. I am trying to make a backup of all our Cisco switches and routers config file. I have already used PUTTY to connect to the ones I know and done a COPY RUNNING-CONFIG TFTP to copy the file off to my laptop. I just do not know the rest of the switch IPs so I can complete the backup procedure. I recall there is some kind of discover command???? I just want to find the switches and do not need to see the cisco phones, if this is possible. If someone could give me and example of a command I could type, I would appreciate it

sinfocomar - Actually if the switch doesn't have an IP or you can't talk to the management IP this will NOT help.
Also, if Telnet and HTTP is disabled, what then?

craigbeck, actually an ip sniffer (see my post above) will ping and then test the telnet/http port and get back an id string. Should be enough to identify a manageable switch. Will it do?

All of the mentioned methods rely on either CDP or SNMP.
Unfortunately unless those protocols are running on your switches you might just have to visit each switch and connect to the console to find the details you need.

Just logon to your switch and do -
Sh cdp neighbors
or
Sh cdp neighbors detail
Do the same thing on ur router too!

Others

Or you could just scan your whole subnet for devices
