If yes, please check the option for encryption on login/passwordd again
If no, check option box to tick out the access need login/password

Is the desktop also running Windows 7 ? Which version on the notebook? (Home Premium?)

check your time zone and clock settings...sometimes encryption stuff is tied into accurate timekeeping, so if you're timezone or time are incorrect you may get security errors.
