Apache Web Server;Web Servers;Miscellaneous Networking
Domain Name: TRADE.COM
Registrar: PDR LTD. D/B/A PUBLICDOMAINREGISTRY.COM
Whois Server: whois.PublicDomainRegistry.com
Referral URL: http://www.PublicDomainRegistry.com
Name Server: NS1.TRADE.COM
Name Server: NS2.TRADE.COM
Status: clientTransferProhibited
Updated Date: 04-jun-2013
Creation Date: 03-jun-2010
Expiration Date: 03-jun-2014
Dear Export,
I have three question
1- What is Name server meaning at the output of my website "trade.com" from whois?
Is it referring to DNS name server ?
2- I go to my root Linux and go to /etc/resolv.conf,
it just report as follows:
nameserver 8.8.8.8
And I didn't find anything about my nameserver of NS1.TRADE.COM and NS2.TRADE.COM
The reason I want to know becoz I would like change it from NS1.TRADE.COM to other
nameserver for Cloudflare network application
Question -3:
On Cloudflare setup, they ask me to change my current nameserver to amy.ns.cloudflare.com. If do so, how my client using my website since my server
database is till at my hosting company server computer ?
Be Reminded, I know I can change it in Cpanel but now I didn't pay for Cpanel on VPS
so I need to do it on Linux shell
Please advise
Duncan

Hi ,
For Centos, i found the below in net for changing DNS
http://blog.hostonnet.com/how-to-change-hostname-and-ip-on-a-centos-server
Also see the solution of nixcraft in the below.
http://nixcraft.com/centos-rhel-fedora/17008-howto-change-server-name-centos-linux.html
Regard clientTransferProhibited , please see below answer.
The domain is locked, normally you just login to the control panel associated with the domain and select the unlock option. If your current domain registrar doesn't have an unlock option then you need to talk to them.
As a side note if you keep the domain with someone like GoDaddy then you don't have to transfer the domain about to move hosts instead you simply update the domains name server fields to point to those of whichever host you choose to use. This is much quicker/easier than transferring the domain to a new registrar and then updating the nameservers each time you change hosts.

Hope this helps.
